From Great Southern with Style: Tandem Wines & the Magic of WA Terroir
Western Australia is home to some of the most remarkable and varied wine regions in the country, but none quite like Great Southern. This vast, fertile region is a patchwork of rolling farmland, mixed-use cropping, and boutique vineyards, where the diversity of climate and topography allows for some of Australia’s most expressive and elegant wines.
Our Tandem range pays tribute to the beauty of the Great Southern: wines crafted for today’s wine drinker, with a focus on balance, varietal character, and regional authenticity. These are wines made to be shared, enjoyed, and returned to again and again; wines that reflect where they’re from and how they’re made.
What Makes Great Southern So Great?
Stretching 150km north to south and 100km east to west, the Great Southern wine region encompasses subregions including Albany, Denmark, Frankland River, Mt Barker and Porongurup. Each area offers its own unique microclimate, from maritime-influenced coastal zones to cooler inland pockets, which in turn helps to grow fruit of remarkable depth and clarity.
While a wide range of varieties thrive here, Shiraz and Riesling are particularly celebrated. But in the hands of skilled winemakers like our own Rory Parks, even the more approachable styles - like Sauvignon Blanc Semillon or Cabernet Sauvignon - show poise, purity and provenance.
